Las Vegas – Experience the Reality of Success Seminar

Hi There,

I have not posted much in the way of personal experiences with you on this blog.  I’ve made it a point to try to give you helpful tips, resources, ideas, samples, pictures, etc. related to wedding flowers and/or weddings.  This time I am going to talk about my personal experience in Las Vegas last week.

I was overwhelmed (in a good way) with the floral decor in all of the hotels.  They all had a common theme (FALL) and were actually very similar from hotel to hotel.  In the Palazzo Hotel as you entered the lobby, there was the biggest, grandest grapevine garland I have ever seen.  It must have been 5-8 feet wide and twisted all the way up to the ceiling, I don’t know, maybe 60-75 feet tall.  The faux oak leaves must have been 3 feet long by 2 feet wide.  At the base were large pumpkins and goards and potted mums in yellows, rusts and oranges.  Behind the registration desk were enormous urns (10 feet tall) with Fall garlands pouring out of them.  Fresh flower centerpieces were everywhere, again, huge containers, orange roses, orange Asiatic Lilies, gourds, pumpkins, decorative branches, bittersweet vines…..abundance was the common theme.

Ironically, ABUNDANCE was a common theme at the seminar I was at too.  How to have abundance in your life.  How to manifest abundance in your life.  To boil it down to it’s easiest form, the message was, always be giving…..more to all and less to none.  If you give you can’t help but receive.  It’s the law of the universe.

I am very grateful for this experience and grateful for all that is in my life.  I am grateful to all of you who read my blog, buy my Do It Yourself Wedding Flower Guide and subscribe to my EZINE.

I ask you often, and I am asking again…..if there is something specific I can talk about, write about, demo for you, just let me know what that is.  I am happy to help you in any way I can.

Thank you for reading and supporting my life purpose of sharing my artistic talent with YOU!

What is the Cost of a Wedding in YOUR area?

Hi There,

I came across this interesting website that has a cost calculator for determining an estimate of what your wedding will cost you.  You put in your zip code, check off the items you want to include in your wedding and you will see a breakdown based on your entries.  Go to www.costofwedding.com/?shq=0 to try this out.

I tried this for my zip code and only entered the flowers I wanted (since I can verify this estimate)…I thought the cost estimate was on the high side.  I have done and do do the more expensive end weddings, but I think as averages go, the lower number would be my guideline.

Hope this helps!

Who Gets a Boutonniere

Hi There,

A while back I published a blog post on who gets a corsage and have received many comments thanking me for that information.  So it just seems appropriate to now talk about who gets a boutonniere.

The groom should always get a boutonniere.  However, if the groom is wearing a military uniform, he will not wear a boutonniere.  Also, if the groom is wearing casual attire, such as a Hawaiian shirt, you probably don’t want to try and pin on a boutonniere to that shirt.  A regular shirt just doesn’t have the stability to hold a boutonniere properly and it typically twists and turns and hangs wrong.

The rest of the bridal party, groomsmen, ring bearer(s),  fathers and grandfathers should all wear boutonnieres.

If you are having ushers, they should also wear a boutonniere.

Depending upon your circumstances, how much money you have to spend, how important other people are to you, you may also want to give boutonnieres to special people/guests like brothers and uncles.  Some couples decide to give boutonnieres to ALL their guests.

The boutonniere is pinned on the left side.  It took a long time for me to remember that!  If members of your wedding party are wearing tuxedos, just look for the button hole in the lapel.  That is where you want to pin on the boutonniere.

I always pin my boutonnieres from behind.  So I hold the boutonniere where I want it to sit and then I take the pin and go behind the lapel and pin the boutonniere in place.

Hope this helps!
