WALK Radio Interview with Natalie Weinstein

Hi There, On July 4, 2009 I was interviewed on air with Natalie Weinstein.  Her weekly talk show is called The Home Show with Natalie Weinstein.  The focus of the interview was on Home Weddings.

If you click here: WALK Radio you will be taken to the website where the interview is located.  You’ll have to scroll down to it.  There are 3 parts for a total of one hour.

The previous week, Natalie interviewed Ron Jacobs from Bridal Planner Group about how to plan the perfect wedding.  You may also want to listen to that interview.

A Good Example of a BAD DJ

Hi There,

I have been in the wedding business for over 18 years now.  And, if there is one thing I have picked up over the years it is that your DJ can make or break your event.  Take a look at this example of a poor DJ.  http://vimeo.com/3514167

Here is an good example of what you can expect when you don’t have a DJ at all, and instead, rely on an iPod and your guests to DJ/MC your wedding.  This is such a deal breaker for me!  http://www.adja.org/general/ipodwedding.asp

I know it is tempting to cut back here, but this is one of the areas I recommend you don’t take any chances.

Photoshoot at Coloma Country Inn

Hi There,

I was asked by Marj Branco of StellaSweet Photography if I would make a bridal bouquet for a photoshoot at the Coloma Country Inn yesterday.   Marj sent me a picture of the model, the dress and the link to Coloma Country Inn so I could get an idea of the location, bride and dress and choose flowers that would compliment all.  The dress, by the way, was purchased at Brides Against Breast Cancer.  This is an organization where you can donate your used bridal gown.  The organization will clean it and sell it and the profits go to fight breast cancer.  If you go to their site, you can click on a link to see where the gowns will be on sale all over the United States.

Anyway, the dress and location seemed vintage to me, so that is the theme I took off on when searching for the flowers for this bouquet.  I found a rose called Amnesia that I just fell in love with.  It is a lavender and green rose, and looks very vintage.  Here is a picture of this beautiful rose.

So, I went to the wholesale flower market here in Sacramento and I found this rose.  I looked around and found some green celosia and something called explosion grass, which I have never used before, but was a fabulous compliment to the rose and celosia.  Below is a sneak peak from the photoshoot that I just received from StellaSweet Photography.  Marj has just recently moved to this area and is trying to get established here.  Because of the economy and the large number of photographers in this area, she has temporarily reduced her rates.  I can’t even say what she reduced her rates to here, but if you are looking for a photographer, call Marj.  You will get an unbelievable deal!  And, judge for yourself, but I think her work is fabulous!

FLIP Mino HD – Portable Easy to Use Video Recorder

Hi There,  WOW, I’ve had my eye on one of these video cameras for a while now.  They seem to be highly recommended by a lot of people in the “know”.  So, I finally broke down and bought one.  I’m still experimenting with it.  But, watch for NEW video clips of me showing you how to do many things related to flowers.  I am planning on doing a video for everyday flower arranging and Holiday flower arranging.  Let me know if anything else sounds good to you!

Northstar at Tahoe Wedding 8-1-09

Hi There, WOW!  What a fabulous wedding this past Saturday at Northstar at Tahoe.  Sabrina and Conor are a very together couple!  They chose a vintage travel theme with fig and chartruse as their main colors and pops of orange and cream.  They wanted unusual centerpieces and they wanted all of them to be just a little different on each table.  Here are the results.  We used poppy pops, majestic millet, egonis, kale, celosia, green and ivory roses, green cymbidium orchids, aged green hydrangea, Picasso mini callas, green hypericum berries, baby purple artichokes, large green artichokes, green upright amaranthus, orange freesia and allium.  And, this is something that you can do yourself fairly easily.  Examine the photos and decide for yourself!  More photos to come over the next few days!
